ENKAI at Kyoto
Solo exhibition at Urinsha, a café in Nijo, Kyoto in spring.
The people of Kyoto have many legends concerning the nether world and spirits traveling between the living and dead.
Perhaps this is why the yōkai in my pictures seemed much livelier here than in my studio,
despite the fact that they are ghosts.
Enkai means party or banquet and that’s exactly what they wanted.
